Origins and history
For centuries the territory of Rapolano Terme was the tank of one of the noblest stone materials for architecture and the ' art in general. Travertine was extracted to enrich buildings and squares in Europe and beyond, instead there were only a few artifacts, the most simple steps and frames. Certainly it would have been unthinkable to hold Rapolano the best production, but was equally absurd not to reserve the land significant evidence. In this context was born in 1995 Promenade rediscovered. The idea was to Mauro Berrettini. It was to give a strong sign to the road that connected upstream from the historic city with the modern settlement in the valley. The project proposed a collective work on the type of 'Campo del Sole' in Tuoro sul Trasimeno, a series of sculptures made using the material in the area: in the case of the Umbrian center stone and travertine here. This time the sculptures were not in a park, but the main path of the country. It provided a way to beautify born disorderly, unpretentious aesthetic through new sidewalks and areas designed by artists with sculptural elements of urban vocation: not simple but complex plastic for monuments at the park. was a challenge and the author of these notes accepted from the outset with enthusiasm involvement in the project. It could be shown, in unison with the past, that art is not just an intellectual exercise, as they want to reveal most of its manifestations today, but something that belongs to the life of every day. The sculptures of Promenade rediscovered would be presented as useful and attractive products that encourage meditation, enrich and ennoble those who frequented the place. On the way you have lived, as in the old centers, truly spontaneous meetings with works of art. Would prove that it is still possible to conceive of democratic art at the service of citizens and necessary support to the urban environment. (...)
