Cutting unit primary, equipped with multiple blades, used for sawing blocks. It consists of a holder frame, a structure that holds the guides, a group-electric motor + flywheel + crank-connecting rod that provides motion to the picture, and a carrying platform. The multi-frame technology is the most traditional and most widespread. Inside a large armor, precisely the frame, a set of blades properly spaced and tensioned, penetrates and flows in the block for all its height with a reciprocating rectilinear movement and with a speed of descent programmed. Most of the photographs collected shows looms sand. Frames that were cut travertine with abrasion produced by sand swept by the blades. the sand, mixed with water, was brought and dispersed over to the frame while the blades were in motion thanks to systems consisting of raising large wheels which fished by a deposit with glasses of bronze or plastic. Since the early 70's in the yards of Rapolano start arriving frames to diamond blades. The blades, on their lower edge, wear of the diamond segments which, during the stroke of the blades themselves, abrade the block by removing the rock. During their action the blades are sprayed with water in order to refrigerate the tool and to remove the debris of the cut.
